The CORTEN Post by Stalen Design is a corten steel post suitable for placing a bird feeder, feeding station, bee hotel, or other bird accessory at a height. Also known as a garden stake or stand, this post offers a stable and practical solution for use in the garden.

The post is crafted from high-quality Corten steel and developed for long-term use in the garden. Over time, Corten steel forms a stable layer of rust that protects the material against further corrosion. Thanks to its pointed end, you can place the post easily and firmly into the ground. The warm, rust-brown appearance gives any outdoor space a rugged and timeless character. The length is approximately 167.5 cm.

Practical tip: Place the Corten steel post approximately one-third into the ground for optimal stability. The sharp point makes driving it in easy. When driving it in, use a wooden block between the feeder post and the tool to prevent damage.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
