Wall decoration ROOTS from Stalen Design is a round corten steel wall decoration for outdoor use, also known as wall art, facade decoration, garden decoration, wall ornament, and outdoor art. The laser-cut tree of life gives the wall plaque a symbolic appearance and represents growth, strength, connection and the cycle of life.

The wall decoration is made of 2 mm thick Corten steel and has a diameter of 450 mm. Corten steel develops a natural rust patina outdoors, which protects the material from weather influences. This gives the decoration a warm, robust look that fits well on a garden wall, fence, facade, or exterior wall.

The tree of life is rich in meaning: roots refer to origin and stability, the trunk to strength and development, branches to growth and choices, and leaves to flourishing and wisdom. Wall decoration ROOTS is mounted with spacers from the wall and fastened with Corten steel-look screws for a sleek, floating effect.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
