HEDGEHOG Garden Stake by Stalen Design is a corten steel garden stake in the shape of a hedgehog silhouette. This hedgehog garden shape is also known as a garden spike, border stake, planter stake, garden ornament, garden sculpture, metal garden figure, and corten steel garden decoration.

The garden stake is made of 3 mm Corten steel. This strong steel develops a natural rust patina outdoors that protects against weather influences. The warm rust color gives the hedgehog silhouette a calm, natural appearance among plants, grass, or pots.

Easily place the HEDGEHOG Garden Stake by inserting the pin into the grass or a garden border. This metal garden figure also looks great in a planter. Please note: the pin can be sharp and the hedgehog naturally has spikes.

About Corten steel

Corten steel is a high-quality metal alloy consisting of iron enriched with copper, phosphorus, silicon, nickel, and chromium. It is known for its distinctive rust-brown color and natural industrial aesthetic.

What makes Corten steel unique is the dense oxide film (rust layer) that forms on the surface. This layer protects the underlying material from oxygen, which significantly slows down the rusting process and allows the metal to last for years — without rusting through.

Important to know

Corten steel is supplied as standard in its original, grey metallic state (unrusted).
Minor imperfections in the corten steel (such as scratches/steel production codes) will become invisible during the rusting process.
Within approximately 1 to 2 months, a rust-coloured patina layer will form — completely natural, without any additional treatment.
During the rusting process, the material may stain surfaces or surrounding elements.
Corten steel is suitable for outdoor use in all weather conditions and does not require a coating.

Maintenance tips

Let the rusting process take its course. Do not use any chemical agents or oils.
Prevent moisture stains during storage: unpack the material immediately upon receipt.
Avoid standing water on horizontal surfaces to limit staining.
Clean only with water and a soft brush if desired — do not use aggressive cleaning agents.
When mounting on sensitive surfaces: consider a spacer or edge finish to prevent rust runoff.
